NUCLEAR MEDICINE

Nuclear Medicine Department

CHOC - Children’s Health of Orange County

Poised to expand its service offering, CHOC Children’s Hospital called upon the c|a Team to complete the design for a comprehensive nuclear medicine department within an approximately 4,000-sq.ft. existing space.

Thoughtful and efficient space planning were crucial to accommodate all of the programming and code requirements within the finite area, including space for an anesthesiologist to sedate the children for imaging sessions. In order to address this special space requirement within the allotted square footage, the team created a shared control room between the PET/CT and SPECT/CT Scanners. These rooms were also aligned along a common corridor. The simple circulation path helped save additional space.

With the completed nuclear medicine area, CHOC Children’s Hospital is better positioned in the market with more comprehensive diagnostic services to benefit the area’s pediatric cancer patients.
