INTERFAITH CENTER
The Thomas and Dorothy Leavey Foundation Interfaith Center
Children’s Hospital Los Angeles
The concept for the interfaith center at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles was to explore the creation of a spiritual space that addresses both universal and particular expressions of faith, currently a rare concept being implemented in hospital environments. Working collaboratively with the hospital’s spiritual care director and project supporters, the design team provided an environment where religious differences can find common ground in a place for emotional and spiritual healing. This project is one deeply rooted in cultural sensitivity and distinctly represents ten different religions. It provides a setting that welcomes the expression of differences yet pulls everyone together, emphasizing the importance of holistic healthcare.
